Now This Is Interesting!

Maybe Volkswagen’s slogan “Drivers Wanted” must have inspired me to become a waterfowl outfitter because I put on an embarrassing amount of miles every year.

Birdtail Waterfowl Inc will have a new home for 2013.

Back in 2000 when we first started outfitting in the Potholes we embraced the model of first class. Over the years we have been able build a fantastic clientele who have become a part of our fall family.  It’s not hard to produce world class hunts when we operate in one of the most famous waterfowl regions in North America. With a staff of passionate waterfowler’s who have work ethic that you will never see elsewhere. With all combined you have a destination.

Birdtail Waterfowl Inc. will have a new home for 2013.
We are moving to a 5 acre piece of heaven overlooking a beautiful lake. The property is ringed with 80’ mature spruce trees with not a neighbor miles.

How’s the property going function?

·        6 new cabins.

·        1400 sq lodge for meals and lounging.

·        Change / gear drying building.

·        Big fire pit.

·        Large traditional barn.

·        Legal skeet range

·        Fly fishing for Rainbows and Browns 4 miles away

·        A view and sounds that will calm anyone.

For the last 4 months we have been trudging though all the necessary paperwork to make this a possibility.

The Rural Municipality that we are joining have been very accommodating. The RM applications, business license, variances and public hearings were completed as of June 2013. The Licensing Advisory Committee (LAC) of Manitoba Water Stewardship and Conservation is a fairly large application. The application was over 100 pages long and detail extreme. Months of building the proposal and great guidance for the LAC coordinator got us a green light for the move in July.

Yes July  – pulled a lot of triggers before the final green light! Live and die by sword right?

The paperwork is far from over though.
·        Drinking water inspection
·        Environment inspection
·        Health inspection
·        Building inspection
·        Food handling permits
·        Final LAC approval

One could get upset with the paperwork and cost of permits involved but we are dealing with a treasured resources.

So from this point on I will be snapping shots of the build as we go along, sort of like a diary.

June 30, 2013 is the deadline.

It should be interesting!!!!
